I'm already signed up. I'm not much of a MySpacer, so hopefully some of the group will come over here. :) We had some lively chats this weekend eh, Hes?

Even though I haven't been really active on Daze lately I'm still very much interested in what Sanjaya is doing and can't wait to have his first CD in my hands. Or his book, whatever comes first. Sadly Daze quit yesterday all of a sudden. Yes, I knew it was in the air. But I still had a vague hope it wouldn't happen. So now we have only Rickey's. I really hope more fanjaya's will come here. Look forward to continue here, then.

Yes, we did, Kap! There are so many with whom I'd like to stay in touch. Rickey.org was my first Sanjaya home, and Rickey has always done us proud, so I'm happy to be here. Anxious to see Sanjaya's own website set up, though.

I just found about that on rickey.org when I read about Goodspeed and it reminded me why I can't stand the auditions portion of AI, and mentioned to Hester here that I'd visit Daze to see how everyone is and she said it was gone.

That was such a good community Lou and Pooja created, it was hard to believe but I know it was expensive to run. I did google any notes on Daze in November and saw that there was a goodbye 'party' and so I was glad people were prepared for it and it didn't just disappear, but then I'm surprised there was no place agreed on for forming an inexpensive talk group for the future while waiting for any official Sanjaya site, which (forgive me) might take an eternity the way things are going with Sanjaya's professional life. But then I have no idea what the recent plans were with that, since I got caught up in the political scene the last half year.

I hope a lot of people got the amazing trip-report books. I was always sad that the trip-reports online were in password-protected areas because it meant Google could not be keeping a record of all the positive responses to Sanjaya recorded on this site during the tour, so that people searching on his name would find them. It would have helped override some of the negative on the web.

The site made all of those reports possible, so I'm sorry the text couldn't be transferred to a less-expensive hosting situation yet.

Yes, it was a point of contention with some that the torch reports were in a password protected area. Copies of the CD and even a hardcopy were made available to the public, however, so there are quite a few floating around out there.

Who can blame you for getting caught up in the political scene? It was quite a year. I didn't follow the race as closely as I would have liked, only catching the highlights as we went along, but the culmination on election night was something that even I had to sit still for. WOW. Like many others, I couldn't believe how the results moved me.

But back to Sanjaya - yes, his career seems to be moving along at a snail's pace. Still, there are indications that there is more going on behind the scenes than we know. For example, his latest trip to Japan - what, exactly, is that all about? He's performing? So we've heard. Makes me wonder what else is happening. Big things, I hope - but I do wonder, why all the secrecy?

One of the young-jayas set up a forum, but there hasn't been much activity on it. Many of us got MySpace pages, so I guess that's how a lot of people are staying in touch.

Hi, Kapua,

That's strange, since group talk seems better for a fan base. Just for communication, Rickey's is fine and it allows photos, no?

If one wanted to do a talk-site dedicated to S, they can choose between php style forums, which seem the easiest to use and manage (and low-cost). This is one.

Hi, I may as well introduce myself. I'm Holl Doll (Kristienn on Daze) I've been a fan since day 1. (didn't post much, but still a fan). I'd love to find a place where I can find out what's going on with Sanjaya's career. I hope this site does well!
:)

Nice to see you, Holl Doll!

Anieb, thanks for the link! Those were some sweet moments to relive.

I'm not sure why Sanjaya didn't release an album of covers, but I surely would have bought it. I guess maybe he wanted to get away from the karaoke-ness of AI and do original music? Plus he felt as if he had something to say through writing his own music?

I've always hoped that once he became established he would record some standards. Just for me, lol.

Hi Rickey!

I'm not everybody either, but I like to think I'm SOMEbody, lol.

Just so you know, I still check in on Rickey.org almost every day. I'm not following any of the shows, but I still like to see what you're talking about :)

Anieb, I have no idea why you would get the silent treatment from the new site. You have been a sane, rational, balanced supporter of Sanjaya's since WAY back. Then again, you were never a rabid poster. Is the club seriously THAT exclusive?

See now, all the more reason to congregate here. :D

Now all we need is for Sanjaya to give us Something to Talk About.

:p

I should make it a point to visit here more frequently.

You know, like it's this big house, and we meet occasionally in the backyard or something.

Hester

i like that idea!

And now we have the Celebrity Get Me Out of Here thing to look forward to, so that's definitely something to talk about!

I read on Planetjaya that the winner gets to choose a charity to receive his or her winnings. Anyone know more about that? How much is it? See now, I can more readily accept Sanjaya doing this if I know it's for charity. Plus, it will get his name out there in good way rather than just looking desperate ... which is how it felt to me, at first.

I think that *anything* that Sanjaya does at this point will be construed as desperation. But look at it this way: anything that anybody does after the show is looked upon as desperation anyway, so this is not unique to Sanjaya.

I am very happy that he is doing this because it will get his FACE back on TV which is where it belongs. I am fascinated to find out, how the Sanjaya brand will cope in a non-Idol situation.

Once the official announcement is made (I think it's today actually Friday), I'll see if I can pass on a message to him... to just be himself -- and be wholesome! The cast seems scary though. I hope he survives!

OK - I'll give you that. They ALL look desperate :p. Except maybe the winners.

Your advice to Sanjaya is spot on. Let him win over the viewers with his sweet, funny personality. Who knows, he might even sell a few more books and CD's with his name out there. To most people right now, he's so "two years ago." A show like this would make him current and relevant again.

I left a message to his manager that we will do the 'write in' campaign to show Sanjaya some moral support. I don't know when or if he is already in Costa Rica. If he's still in the States, maybe we can still do it! Will let you guys know what the manager says.

I have NO idea what the write-in campaign is, but I'll do it! This sounds like fun :)

I saw your post about the preview, but all I see is the interview video from a couple of weeks ago. Are you talking about a preview segment on TV? If so, no - I haven't seen it. I pretty much miss everything unless it's on your blog (hint!)

I'm glad to see this has a charity element to it. Not only does it make him seem a smidge less desperate, it's also a great fit for the kind of person he's shown himself to be - wanting to do something positive with his fame. I'm actually pretty excited now to see what happens!

ETA: no response? How rude!!! Don't they know who you are????? ;-)

Ah, thank you, Hester!

Rickey, I love the job you're doing with AI for us in between all those chats. I don't see how you do it. Don't let the few who don't know what's involved get to you.

Rickey, I'm sure you're aware by now but it appears that as of right now Sanjaya is still in the States. He was in New York last Fri when he did the Larry King interview, and is doing a gig in Seattle on the 26th. I would assume he's still here unless by chance he is already in Costa Rica and is flying back and forth. I suppose that could be a possibility but I doubt he's doing that.
