View Full Version : Michael Johns was robbed

What a travesty-- now I know the show is rigged. It just is not statistically possible for him to be voted off. Never been in bottom 3, always consistent in his songs. Always positive remarks, what happened? I will tell you. AI is rigged. Voting is a farce, don't waste your time. The phone / cell companies have their hands in the profits. This is why you never see a breakdown or pie chart of votes? The producers call the shots and they decided it was time for him to go. Ratings are key and they want water cooler fodder, remember when Chris Daughtry was voted off ? Same thing, now look at him? Being voted off never stopped him. What can you do to show your support for MJ? All of you Michael Johns fans, BOYCOTT the show, boycott the advertisers and write them and tell them you will! The producers have already chosen David A as the winner ( of which I am thrilled about ) Just disappointed that Johns was not given a fair rap. Was at least hoping for an entertaining top 3. Also, Ryan Seacrest was a jerk to give him the impression he was staying, even for a second. Once wasn't good enough? WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!
Here's a thought:
How about if all of the MJ fans who donated money to "Idol Gives Back" called their credit cards and cancelled their donations? Give your donations to a different charity, one not supported with unscrupulous voting scamming.
Respectfully submitted,

I hate to disagree with you, but the public voted and that was their decision.
The sad truth is. As far as I'm concerned, Carly is this years version of Sanjaya. Hell, even she knew she was supposed to get booted.
Truth is, people like to be trouble makers and if enough people vote, less talented performers (a.k.a. Carley) will get more votes.
Not to worry tho, as usual, she will make another bad song selection, have her husband pick out her clothes for her.....again! and do her less than original celine dion impersonation while throwing in a wail or two.

I too disagree. Michael has been fighting David C all season for the rocker vote, but the problem is that Michael skews very old. The most recent song that he has sung was "We Will Rock You/We are the Champions" from what, 1978? Now, I like it since I was listeng to most of his songs in high school, but I'm at the top end of the Idol demographics (only when you stretch to 16-49). At least David C has been singing updated, modern arrangement versions of classics. And since the under-30 crowd votes significantly more than the over-30 crowd, David C definitely takes votes from Michael.
Although Michael is hugely talented, he is extremely inconsistent. He has had two really good performances now in what 8 performances (3 SF and 5 finals). He's had several mediocre performances and a couple of bad ones. He also suffers from the same problem that Carly and Sayesha suffer from. They all pick songs that they like and not songs that make them shine. Compare them with the signfiicantly less talented Jason and Brooke. Those two are very good at picking songs that make them look good and they perform well. Michael has weak wardrobe choices. He also is boring to watch perform. He stands behind the mike stand, tries to compress both of his shoulders into his spine, twists like he's in pain and then he shouts into the mike with an odd twist of his neck. For an attractive guy, he does all he can to make himself unattractive. Compare with Bo Bice or Constantine Maroulis and you'll see rockers who know how to handle the stage (and consequently, he's a signficantly better singer than Constantine, but he doesn't look that way on stage).
To me, it was no surprise that Michael got booted. I think he definitely underutilized his big talent. He needs some real coaching in a celebrity makeover otherwise, he'll be just another bar band singer. New clothes, adjust the performance body language, someone to pick songs for him. These days, there are thousands of very talented people like Michael. He has to find a way to stand out...and he didn't.

Well, remember, I'm one of the few that always argues that anyone who makes it into the semifinals is a good singer. However, it takes more than just a good voice to be a pop star. Both Constantine and Michael had their strengths and weaknesses, but then so do most stars including the best. Constantine was consistently a little pitchy and not the best singer, but he did know how to radiate stage presence. Michael has very little stage presence, but has an excellent instrument. Combine them and you'd get a really good rocker.

Ah...I see you have the potential for a very successful career with the National Enquirer, the Star or any one of a dozen other checkout line rags. :)
