Very unlikely. The producers would have been more forthcoming if a wildcard was available. From this point on, the competition is going to be like last year except that they will feature less of the guest coaches/performances and feature more on the Idol contestants.

I can't imagine they would introduce wild card contestants now - it wouldn't be fair to any of the top 12 who get voted off.

Forgive me-I didn't start watching until the middle of season 2. Was Clay a wildcard? By wildcard, do you mean someone who has already been voted off and gets to come back?

During the semis, on results night they used to reveal the top 3 vote getters not the lowest. Clay was in group 2 that season. It was comprised of Rueben, Kim Locke, and Clay to name a few. Those three were the top 3 with only 2 of them moving forward. Kim and Rueben received the most votes. For what ever reason that year they had who ever finished 3rd in their respective group perform on "wildcard night". Clay won that night out right by having the most votes. They added Trenyce and Kim Caldwell as the judges picks to round out the top 12. Hope this helps. :)
